I just bought a maxima clam and the rock that came with it came off while putting it in the tank, as the rock fell I noticed that their was something white and chunky on the rock and it appeared to be his foot, Did I just kill my Maxima clam? Or could he still pull through? I am positive it was not just his byssal threads.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Here you go, I know people that it has not been an issue for their clams.

I would be surprised if most of what you saw were in fact the threads. The clam should have retracted it's foot quickly when moving the rock anyway.

Look for anything Daniel Knopp with regard to clams.
