Hello fellow 3reefers, ive got a problem.

I just got a used CPR Marine Tower that works fine. I also just got a 100 gallon long show tank with this funky overflow setup. The slits are on the left side, the water enters, goes through a wet/dry and all that other junk, then gets pumped back into the tank.

I want to set up a fuge with my 29 bowfront. Ive got the skimmer/sump combo in there right now. The problem I have is that the tank is not drilled so i have to ghetto rig a syphon and use two ViaAqua 1300 pumps for the return. I am having problems with the equilibrium of the system.

It seems that I cant get the perfect input/output. Either the syphon is putting too much water in than the pumps can handle, or the pumps are taking water out too fast.

Im tight on cash, and am looking into any possible solutions. I was looking into a MegaFlow system but I would really like to avoid drilling the tank.

Im probably gonna get a ton of replies asking for more details, and would be happy to give them.

I can't quite picture your setup in my head the way you have described it, maybe someone else will understand it better than I do, in the mean time a pic would really help.

 

get pvc ball valves at home depot and adjust the flow

 

I have ball valves, if i messed with it i could probably get it to work after a while, i just dont trust the system as a whole... im going up to take pictures right now

 

are you trying to use two tanks for sumps and use two return pumps one in each separate sump tank, or are you pumping water from one sump to you fuge and having problems regulating the flow.

 

if i had your set up w 2 sump tanks I would use one as a filter/prefilter intake. then I would pump water from the first tank to the second tank/refugium through an external protein skimmer letting the water drain into the refugium tank 2. then from tank 2 i would get a 2 inch bulk head and plump a 2 inch or 1.5 drain line back to tank 1 where your protein skimmer pump and return pump are. Just get a few bulk heads and go to home depot, get a 2.10 inch whole saw or take it to a glass working shop they will do it for you

Sounds like you simply need to dial the flow in with valves, or diversion.

The via aqua 1300's, how many gph are those? have ypu tried to run only one of those pumps?

And what is the marine tower rated at for gph capacity? I take it that the marine tower is simply an overflow box. right?
