My wife had the drain and a faucet installed one day while I was at work. 700 bucks for the work but it makes water changes a snap.....

This is also a great idea. Using a long flexible hose could dump water anywhere you want.

Water change? What's that? I have not done a water change on my 300 in over a year. And things are great!

My last 150 I haven't change water in it for over 3 years but the water change portion is mainly to siphon out the detritus on my sand.

If I need to put some new water in, I just pump it in. When I'm all out of school, I'll have a system set up for auto drain from the pump so I just have to hit a switch. I also don't do many water changes... but no coral yet in the 90.

Well my next project is having an auto water change unit setup so water changes will be a hung of the past. Maybe have it pump out 10gallons a week and pump back in 10 gallon. Only thing I need to look out for is adding salt and ro/di into the mix bins outside.

I only have a 125g tank but what I did was drill a hole through the floor into the basement where I keep the top off, ro unit and the water change garbage can. That way the heaviest lifting consists of the cup I use to add salt into the brute container.

What I do is take the vinyl tubing that I have ran through the floor and siphon out the water from the tank into the drain then I turn a valve and pump clean salt water up through the same tube. In this hobby you have to make things easy in order to keep up with maintenance.
