So my hand has been forced to frag a beautiful green acro in a last ditch effort to save the dying piece.

Here is the before shot ... a gorgeous deep green acropora!

    And here is the aftermath!

My quickly assembled, understocked kitchen table frag station:

The main piece, which has slowly been bleaching from the base up for some reason:

    The clippings themselves:

And back in the main tank with the rest of the colony:

I put them back in the main display instead of the frag tank because I didn't want to have to acclimate them to new water paramaters. The colony is incredibly stressed because of something, now even more so from being fragged ... and figured I didn't want to add another negative variable to the picture.

I'll keep my fingers crossed, and hope that at least one of the pieces can recover and I don't lose this beautiful piece of the reef!

I have had to do this myself and whilst I fully relate to the dissapointment you experienced with the mother colony
I can say , if those frags make it and grow and stay free of STN , in time you will be very happy you did this

all frags except one are free of any problem, so hopefully they will grow happily and healthy ... however, nothing is ever guranteed in a reef!

Can you separate the one from the rest? Have you tried treating the area and surrounding flesh with superglue...there is at least one thread that mentions some success in saving the coral this way...
