we'll I want your input on this fellow 3reef members...
I"ve read a few articles on magazines and there was one on cutting a BTA straight down the mouth in half, thus this forcing the Nem to split and you basically having 2...
has anyone thought of doing this and is this safe...:-/

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
It is not nearly as easy as it sounds.

You need a very healthy speciman. No feeding for a week or more prior. The recovery area needs to be pristine.

The cutting method is just that, cutting completely through. Research is essential. And do not expect the first ones to make it unless you have a established system of more than 1 year old.

Forcing it more induced by stress and not ideal either.

Best way is just to feed it and let it do it's thing.

You can only cut BTA and mini maxi carpets, little to no success on any other type that I know of.

If I cut one I will post some pictures but like I said it is a lot harder than it sounds.

possible but def not as easy as it looks like others mentioned. I would rather try to overfeed the nem to make it split than try to literally split it. My RBTA split in the first 20 days I had it, it went from the size of a half dollar to maybe softball from day one to the day it split. I fed it once every two days, small pieces of raw shrimp or krill. It got to a point where it didn't fit into its crevice & the next day it split.

I've done it before and it actually is as easy as it sounds. Just make sure that the nem is nice and healthy and a decent size and make sure you use some sharp scissors and just cut it right down the middle. BAM you now have two. Here is a video of someone doin it...YouTube - Frag an Anemone
