Got some liverock off CL and I was looking in the tank tonight with a flash light and I noticed one of the rocks toward the bottom has what look to be like 4 or so Aiptasia anemones on it. What should I do?

Atleast I think they are, they're more redish than clear though.

Throw some peppermint shrimp in there. They will take care of it. When they are done, they will eat whatever you feed your fish

I have two small peppermints in there along with a cleaner. The peppermints I rarely see though.

Im pretty sure they are Aiptasia, at first glance I thought they were slightly thicker feather dusters but then they appeared to be more like small tentacles. The rock is in an inconvenient place to see but I could remove it from the tank if that would help.

Boil some water, and squirt those SOBs. That should knock em off.

My experience with true peppermint shrimp* is that they are mostly nocturnal and reclusive. However, they do eat aiptasia and majano nems.

*There are a few species, including camels, that are being sold to unsuspecting aquarists as peppermints. Most are basically useless for eradicating nuisance nems, or any other pest for that matter.

Mine are peppermints but I do typically only see them at night. I moved this rock to the top so I can view it easier. They retracted so Im having a hard time spotting the other 2, found the biggest one though. I may just remove the rock at kill them.

I have only had less than 6 pop up in my rock over the last few years. Since I have a flame hawkfish I am nervous about keeping shrimp. I have used the kalk paste method and that seems to work very well.

Good luck! At least you found them before they had a chance to spread around your tank. :)

I looked over the other rocks from and many angles as possible and these 3 or so were the only ones I could find. Hopefully my hawkfish and peppermints can take care of the rest.
