Really a two part question. I have a 65 gallon setup with 95 lbs cured live rock and 80 lbs live sand. I plan on having a FOWLR tank and going to a reef tank 6-8 months down the line. For my fish/inverts, would they be cool with my sailinty at 1.025 in anticipation to going to corals down the line?

I havn't added anything at this point I'm currently cycling (my 1st tank) but in the meantime I'd like to cycle with the proper levels. I'm running my temp at 81 degrees and am starting to see some algae on the rock. Also han't noticed any spike in nitrate yet. Any thoughts on what I should expect in a cyle with 1.5 or so live rock per gallon and a 3-4" sandbed?

Im testing everything I can, pH is at 8.2 and alkalinity seems to be in order as well as others. Ive just read and heard that salinity is especially important for invertabrates and corals.

Thanks to any and all who have thoughts/opinions/experiences on this...guess that was more than a 2 part question :)

o.k try putting a dead shrimp in there if theres no nitrite or ammonia and make the s.g like 1.023 for coral and inverts! you also should have algae blooms in a cycle! what fish/inverts/coral do you want? HTH! and ;D welcome to 3reef ;D
