I got a nice 5ish inch foxface today and put him in my new 90 gallon. I already had a few fish in there and they are doing fine but he is just sitting on a rock going psycho with his colors. camo on and off and breathing heavily. i floated him for 30 min and drip acclimate. my params match my lfs almost exactly. what he is doing looks similar to what hippo tangs do. any thoughts?

Yeah, they do that. It's technically a stress response. At night, or when it doesn't want to be seen, mine is convinced it can become invisible once it "camo's" out. Mine does it off and on all day long, and for any reason at all.

    They are simply weird fish.

Here is mine, wearing his Afro hat.

i understand the camo part, but laying on his side and perching on rocks breathing heavily? that part worries me

Mine perch sideways and such on rocks all the time. He does breathe faster than the others too. Swims like a rahtard. We actually named him Forrest based on the fact when we got him we realized he didn't swim real good (he needed his swimming legs).

If this is the first 24h, FWIW, I didn't see mine for a day or two, and I have a mean Purple Tang trying to rip his face off to boot. Now they are friends, but for the Tang, its a love/hate thing. She still slaps him around and shoves him into the walls for eating her food.
