When you buy a frag glued to one of those little plates do you just stick the whole thing in your tank or do you need to remove the frag from the plate?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
If you can remove the frag from the plug without too much drama or damage to the frag I always remove the plug.

Sometimes I allow the frag to acclimate for a couple days before I remove it from the plug.

I personally remove mine from the plug...it's really up to you though.

To remove I use a pocket knife and slowly work it under the edge of the coral and plug then start twisting it little by little. It will pop off, most are just on there with some super glue

I like to cut the frag off the plug and if it has encrusted I put the plug in my grow out tank to double up on the same coral, if the principal coral makes it and the plug aswell I them look to trade for other corals.

But generaly this is a long process and realy not worth the hassle unless you have the place.
