SO i just set up my 55 gallon frag/prop tank

i have 2xk1 and 2xk2 for flow and a couple pieces of live rock on the bottom for added filtration.

    :confused:My questions are this....

I have a 10 gallon sump with a return pump and HoB overflow

should i add it? or should i wait till i can get a bigger sump, such as a 20 long?

I have always had rr tanks, this over flow is the u-tube type, if i add, how do i start the suction??

any other suggestions would be mint and will include some free karma points for being so helpful :):)

    Thanks in advance :)

OK well as far as im concerned you dont need a sump for a prop tank but each to their own right :)
the utube can be started by blocking the final entry point to the sump and simply filling the system with water all the way and then opening the line to sump ,gravity should do the rest

Cool, i was thinking the same thing on not needing a sump, this sump is so small any ways its only adding like 6-7 gallons max to the system.

THanks for the input im going to stay sumpless in the prop tank for now! thanks agian!

I would add the ten gallon. At least you can stash some equipment in there. If you do decide to get a 20g later you can make the 10 a fuge.

Starting an hob overflow is very simple. Just put a piece of airline tubing into the u with the end at the apex of the u. Place the u tube in place and suck the air out from the airline tubing. You will need to make sure both sides of your hob are filled up so both ends of the u tube are in water.

"little home" is right. that panther grouper will be busting the seams of the 90 when hes full grown . . . do you have any plans to setup at the very least a 240 FOWLR pred tank anytime soon?

Nope, did some research and right now hes about 1inch, not to worried about that yet, plus hes going to have the 90 or a five foot 125 all to him self so he should be fine
