Just wanted to share with you all my DIY 10g frag tank that I did today. Originally it was going to be a mini reef but since I am going to give fragging a go.....I decided to go ahead and try that. If it doesn't work out for me, I'll go back to the original plan;D

    Materials and steps:
    1 sheet of egg crate
    [IMG]

Old Rio pump I had laying around
    [IMG]

50 watt heater and Marineland power filter I had gotten about a month ago
    [IMG]

I decided to make Three shelves. One is 16"x8" and Two are 7"x6".

The bottom large shelf is 3" off of the bottom and the other Two shelves are 4" over the bottom shelf.

I made the legs with jointing strips of plastic that are used to hold plastic pegboard sheets together. They fit in there tight enough where you don't even need to glue them....but I did anyways;D

    And here she is assembled

All comments and suggestions welcome. Well, I'm off to go play with some water and salt. I still have to go get the lighting but hey........that can wait a couple of days.

Not really sure right now. I'm going to be starting off with some easy stuff first and gradually move up.

Nice! I would ditch the bio-wheel though - nitrate factory.

Really!? You sure. Maybe I got lucky but I've ran this type of pump before in small reefs and never had a problem. Thanks for the heads up anyways....I'll be checking on that periodically.

Might want to ask tangster about that. from what I have heard that's a bunch of bull. I used one on my 10 gallon till I took it down about a month ago, never had a problem with it.

I have been planning on doing this soon and was wondering if you need to put sand and rock in there under the shelving? That’s what I had planned to do but not sure if it is necessary.

Great looking frag tank, I just might be doing that myself when I change out my current 30g wet/dry-sump for the new custom fuge. Been thinking about it, might even do a much wanted octopus tank. Keep the pics coming Johnny-boy. Luna
