hi there, i seem to be asking loads of questions on here but never helping, i promise it will change...

I want to set up a frag tank so i can keep my reef setup nice looking, i have brought a tank and have it going through the cycle,
what i need to know is as there is no fish in there and the system is seperate, is there any change in the params? i.e to make em grow better or just keep the same as my reef tank?

    many thanks in advance

Well, to get them to grow fast, you can up the nutrients, ie. increase feedings and filter feeder food. That will make them grow faster. I believe you can do this in a frag tank with no real problems. You may get some algae and stuff like that, but if you stay on top of it, you should be ok.

The better water quality the better they will grow. If you do frequent water changes you could probably not skim. If there's no fish, there won't be much to produce organic waster and such. I would still run carbon at least.

I would recommend putting a fish or two in your frag tank because you really don't want a completely sterile environment. Alot of times if you are growing corals out in such an environment, as soon as you place them in the main tank, they can't take the nutrients.

I would put a clown or other small fish in there to keep a bio load on the tank.

see look, great minds think alike, so in stupid terms,
setup like a normal tank then, i.e skimmer a fish filtration and such!!

yep just like a normal tank. I would put some live rock some where for filtration and run a skimmer with a couple of fishies. The 350gallon prop tank that I am working on right now consists of a sohal and a scopas tang. Just for this reason.
