Just fragged 2 ricordeas a little larger than a quarter into 8 smaller frags. Considering the ricordeas drastically reduced in size out of the water, there was not really a means and methods. I just cut them where i could. Ill upload pics in a second. Hopefully they survive, it was kind of a rough fragging haha.

They all should survive if you fragged correctly. When you removed the original animal did you leave a small piece of the foot behind? If so, you can say 9 frags since it will grow as well !

Each piece that you cut should have went through the center of the animal, the mouth – this surprisingly is not necessary but the recover and re-grow quicker if they have part of a mouth already.

Dependent on your tank size, you may want to run fresh carbon after fragging – toxins and all that jazz.

Anywho – looking forward to the pics and your future updates !

I didnt pull the frag off, just sliced it down the middle as best as I could. Havent run carbon but honestly, my skimmer was going NUTS last night. I had it turned all the way down and was still skimming very wet. Maybe it was my calcium dosing?

Pics will have to wait till the lights are on later tonight.

Generally speaking calcium increases water hardness and thus would increase tension reducing the effectiveness of the skimmer. So I suspect the skimmer production was a result of the fragging or something else, such as water evap changing the water level.

If all you did was slice the ricordia it will survive and grow. A simple way of splitting one Ricordia (if its on a small enough rock) – put a rubber-band around the rock and down the middle of the ricordia, it will divide into two very quickly. This is a fun method for children to watch as it divides slowly day by day.

..... so, where those pics you promised ??? :)

You are definately right on the skimmer production resulting from fragging. I just fragged two more ricordeas and my skimmer immediately went nuts. Weird thing is, now i have way more microbubbles in the tank. ????

But ya, one of the frags dismounted and is lost somewhere, sucks too cause it was a yellowish ricordea. Still got one and just fragged two more purple/orange ones. Will upload pics soon.
