A really sharp knife/scissors/razor, depending on the size. Just cut it how you want and fix it to a rock. I have found that using a toothpick to temporarily hold the frag to a rock and letting the coral attach itself works better than glue. Just remove the toothpick after a week or so once it has attached.

    +1 to ^^.
What I do is get the polyps to retract and then trim off a piece of the cap along the rim. I use a plastic toothpick by piercing the frag on one edge and then through the opposite edge of the frag. Then I lay the frag on a rock or disc and use a rubber band to hold the frag secure by looping it over one end of the toothpick, under the rock or disk and loop over the other end of the toothpick. The frag will attach in about a week and you can remove the toothpick.
