I wouldn't call it overkill, To run everything at full power you need more wattage then recommended.

Thanks Matt, it's on of them things you don't need until you need it ha. It was 600 but way cheaper than replacing 3k+ worth of livestock. It was a hard bullet to bite but in a few months I won't notice it.

It would have been cheaper to run with a 20 kilowatt standby, but we saved more then we spent on gas, we had over $1000 worth of seafood in the freezers.

yeah, its not overkill if you can afford it. I'd love to have more juice than 2000watts, but ya only need to run a deep freezer a few hours a day, and a fridge an hour or two every 12 hours or so, unless you're opening it, plus in the winter, you're gonna want to run some space heaters etc. I'm by no means knocking the big ones, just saying you don't necessarilly have to get a big one to save your tank.

Maybe I'm just jealous yours is bigger than mine;)

I agree, and once you start hooking items up on it you will discover that it is good to have flexibility. We are planning on upgrading to a Diesel or Natural gas generator eventually. Also I'm not sure how cold it is over there but, you may want to hook up your hot water. In the heat the cold water is fine + the hot water adds heat and humidity which is not good when it's hot.

lol, yep thats worth it then, I helped friends clean out their deep freezes of $1000s and 1000s of meat, not a fun task after a few days of 90+ degree heat

It is really really bad when you evacuate and the meat sits for over a week and by the time you return it has refrozen because power is back, talk about a mess. It makes you want to just throw the whole freezer away and buy a new one :p

lol, I helped throw out 3 freezers that had rotted for a week in almost 100 degree heat, stuff got into every crevice, one of the worst smells ever. by the time we let it thaw again sa we could clean it, it just wasn't worth the hassle.

For what it's worth a lot of times it's not worth trying to clean them, they usually are ruined once the meat start dripping. One of the worst parts of the clean up for sure :p Unless you were there to keep it from going bad, then you don't have to worry about loosing your food. Also food is so freaken expensive these days it almost always pays off by powering the freezers

I have a high grade power station (strip) to run everything through. Hoping that helps from damaging my AI sols and mb tv and Xbox if I get real board.
