I went today and picked up some salt for this problem I am having with cloudy water, The chick at the store gave me a rock with some type of brown zoa's on it. the weird thing is some of them have this white colored stuff growing up the side and a couple of them are completly covered up by this white stuff. I saw the rock there ages ago and asked about the stuff and the man said they are supposed to be like that. Are they supposed to be like that or is a type of encrusting sponge taking over.It had been in the store for along time and I guess they knew it would never sell so they dumped it on me knowing I will take anything free.......You ever saw anything like this? sorry no pics.....

I have a zoa like that. Looks like a bunch of white little tubes growing like crazy....I have no idea what the hell they are. I jus scrape them down with my fingers, they grow over the zoas and look stupid

Never accept things that you don't know what they are, even if its free! I hope you put it into a quarantine tank and not your display tank until you identify it? Give us a picture and I am sure someone can help.

Danny--respectfully saying here man, ya gotta be part of the solution or you're by default part of the problem. Ultimately, it's only us who are responsible for what resides in our tanks. Be it nuisance algae, or a block of heaven resembling the Great Barrier Reef--we're the reason it's there.

Hopefully you can get some pics on here so we can see it. Hopefully too, it's tunicates or sponge.

    heres a pic

This isnt them but looks like this...I found them on another site listed as grumpy zoa's....looks more like a fungus or something...they were in a tank with alot of other things and nothing was affected. I mean at least 6 months and sometimes the ones that are covered are open and sometimes covered....

they do stretch...but there is a type of zoos that is supposed to be elongated like that. If your zoos get buried under sand, they will stretch to get light
