I've got to be more careful with what I say. I love those tanks and I have a 36 gallon running right now. I just don't think that there's an argument that they are harder to care for than saltwater.

Haha the smiley faces were to show I was messin' with ya ;)

It's amazing how much those fish can handle compared to SW fish though...I'd be scared to check my ammonia in that thing.

I also have 2 feeder fish that were still alive after we released a mud turtle I had in a kiddie pool in my back yard for 2 months. I didn't know they were alive, but when I found them I just tossed them into the tetra tank. No acclimation no nothin. They're the fattest and most active fish in there now, at $0.17 a piece.;D

I know you were kidding. Just making sure... I'm liking the sound of a Seahorse tank. It wouldn't be horribly expensive as I already have the tank. All I would need is Power Compact lighting to grow macros, Live Rock, Live Sand, Macroalgae and of course Seahorses. It would be tough to see the Freshwater fish go though.

im just assuming that if you are talking about a seahorse tank or a FW tank and you are the type of person that is a member of an online fish forum...that you werent refering to your average run of the mill FW tank. Wasnt trying to stir up comotion or anything just trying to inform you that both FW and SW can be very difficult in regards to maintenance.

I have bred seahorses, i have a reef, I have kept ceph's, fowlr's, planted tanks, etc....and i enjoy keeping them all!! So i was just trying to keep any readers a little more informed and meant no offense. :)

No offense taken by me...not sure if it was directed to me...but oh well. haha. I've seen pics of your planted tanks man, absolutely crazy awesome. Reminded me of the tanks in the "Discovery Hall" area of our public aquarium here (Tennessee Aquarium, great place). Every planted aquarium I see is lacking something...and that something is an aquatic turtle.

No offense taken That Guy. I was referring to the run-of-the-mill freshwater tank because thats the only freshwater I think of. I have no doubt in my mind that freshwater can have just as many difficulties as salt. I've made a decision for now that I will convert it to a Seahorse tank and set up a basic 5-10 gallon for my molly that was born in my tank and one or two other fish that I just can't part with. I feel sort of bad though getting rid of the fish and releasing them back into retail stores to potentially be sold to irresponsible fish owners of which there are too many (None on this website).

Don't forget the Softies like A Kenya tree or nice green leather so the horses have something natural to hitch too. And maybe some mushrooms and a few Zoa's for color. Trust me a seahorse tamk done right and you will not miss the fresh water...

Just want to make sure that they have somewhere to go to rest , somewhere that the flow is a bit reduced. Also have to make sure that they have plenty of items to hitch on in the tank.

He already has a few hitching posts with a couple more to come. I'm not looking to make it "rough seas" for the little guy, it's just that the water is barely flowing right now. "Some" current would be nice though.
