I disagree. Don't let this comment bring you down. As stated above by nanomania, would be a good fit for your tank. Just go slow and be patient. Research, research, research.

Nanos are for more experienced people...much harder to keep params stable.

If he/she wants to attempt it, I'm not gonna stop them...just trying to save some fish/corals lives.

I know I lost a lot of fish but that was over the corse of 4 months and I had two ich outbreaks I didn't know how to deal with at the time (in other words I was a MAJOR noob).

whoa whoa whoa man! stop with all the negativity! why would you try to convince someone not to join in on this wonderful hobby??

sure its a smaller tank but seriously 29 gallons is hardly a nano. they are still fairly easy to keep stable as opposed to say an 8 gallon biocube.

as for saving fish/corals lives thats ridiculous. no one wants their livestock to die but everyone exeperiences it. i can guarentee that you have along with everyone else in this hobby. even public aquariums suffer fish/coral loss. be reasonable here man.

FTR, I was "just a kid" when I started my first SW tank. It was only a 20g, and we didn't have all the resources and technology that we have today. And no, I never lost anything. I even managed to keep a Condy nem alive under standard fluorescent lighting.

haha yeah i know how that is! i started in fourth grade. had a 20 gallon tank with a fluorescent strip light. tank had a condy and two fiji devil damsels. had like 6 pounds of live rock and just a hang on the back power filter. and everything went great. so you can really look at it however you like.

    1) buy refractometer to measure salt
    2)buy a good quality salt
    3) Auto topoff system
    4)wavemaker
    5) skimmer twice the size then recomended
    6)rock and sand
7)ammonia, nitrite and nitrate test kit salifert brand
8)let u tank cure for atleast a month, i know thats too much, but its the best...
9)in that 1 month, research on fishes and corals
10)buy your first fishes as chromis, then clowns and start with soft corals like zoas
    11)select a good lighting, i prefer led.
    12) enjoy reefing..... :)

Not to be rude, but I actually knew all of this already. Funny thing is now this may sound odd, but I know more about salt then fresh. I've been researching on salt tanks for over a year and a half now. (seems longer ) But thanks this is great advise. But you left out one thing LFS ARE EVIL!!!! I was told that I could put a banded cat shark in a 90 gal.
