Toby, jump in head first and enjoy what you do. This is the best hobby in the world and I wish I started earlier. Learn from your mistakes and trust me, even the most experienced reefers make mistakes. Look into purple fire fish, there awesome. Good luck buddy.

Ok so could I go with these fish?

Pinkbar Goby (and pistol shrimp too)

    2 Zebra Barred Dartfish

Yellow Clown Goby (I know they nip on SPS)

    Yellow Candy Hogfish

I'm not including clowns because I (and mostly my mom) want maroon clowns and since they're aggressive I think I'll add them further down the road in a bigger tank.

I wish I could help you, but I'm not familiar enough to advise on your list except for the yellow clown goby - they are small and actually I'm not aware that they nip on SPS. Others can help out on the rest of the list.....

I don't have any personal experience with Zebra Dartfish, but a 29 may not be large enough for two of them. Someone else more experienced would need to chime in there. Firefish would be more suitable IMO.

Also the Hogfish may become too aggressive in a smaller tank. Again, someone else would have to chime in to confirm either way. I know I thought about adding one to my 28, and was basically told they need to be in a larger tank due to their aggressiveness as they age. It seems you were looking to add a wrasse anyways, so why not go with a Possum Wrasse? Should be more suited to a smaller tank than the Hogfish (I have a yellow banded in my 28). As stated earlier, a 29 is too small for any Flasher or Fairy Wrasses.

Given that, I think the Pinkbar, Firefish (only one unless they are a mated pair), Clown Goby, and a Possum Wrasse would be appropriate. You could also look into replacing a fish with a smaller comical blenny (from the Ecsenius family), such as a Tailspot.

    Hopefully this helps!

I believe they have been known to nip at SPS, but not enough to cause damage.

Well I've been told that possum wrasse are really shy and want to upgrade in the future. Also I don't really like firefish. So I'm left with a pinkbar and clown goby hmm...

I have one as mentioned, and I can tell you, it is not at all shy! It is always in and out of the rockwork of course searching for pods, but spends plenty of time out in the water column as well. My Lubbock's Fairy Wrasse in my 55 are far more shy than the Possum believe it or not. And as mentioned, look into smaller members of the Ecsenius family of blennies. I have a Tailspot in my 28 and a Midas in my 55. They are either hanging out in rockwork, or out in the water column. They come right to the front of the glass whenever anyone goes near the tank. I love their personalities :) Although a 29 would be borderline too small for a Midas, as they do swim in the water column a lot.

    Hey I'm 12!
I highly recommend assessors if you have the money, they are very interesting to watch (They swim upside down sometimes!) and are peaceful. IMO the tank is a tad small for a flasher or fairy wrasse, possum or pink streak wrasse are a great choice, and again very interesting.
