Yeah I'll go with clowns, so I guess this could be the end list...

    Midas Blenny

Pinkbar Goby (and pistol shrimp too)

    Pair of Percula Clownfish

    Longnose Hawkfish

I would still be weary with the Hawkfish around the Goby and Blenny. Both have the long slender body that apparently the Hawkfish like to try to eat :-/

Replace the Hawkfish with a Possum or Pink Streaked Wrasse is still my suggestion...Then you can at least keep a shrimp or two in the tank (no chance with the Hawkfish).

Really I've seen hawkfish leave shrimp completely alone.

    For example:

Midas will get too large, IMO go with your other list, clowns are nice but they are sooo common.

    You know it ;)
IMO dartfish aren't as active as midas blennies. Plus only a few darts can grow to a monstrous 6 inches.

Well if the Hawkfish doesn't find and kill the pistol shrimp, than the Basslet definitely will!

I highly doubt either would get the pistol. Sounds good.

Why? Have you housed both? I am just going off of everything I read. Here is a direct quote from Wet Web Media:

Long Nosed Hawk question, shrimp comp. 2/16/10
At least generally speaking, is there a size of cleaner shrimp that is relatively safe from a long nosed hawk?
<Mmm, nope. In time all Oxycirrhites can and usually do take on any species, size of cleaner shrimp. Esp. when ecdysing>
I have two large shrimp and want to add a longnosed hawk. Thanks in advance.

    And another:

    Hawkfish compatibility
Will a Longnose Hawkfish be OK with a shrimp goby and pistol shrimp pair or will they eventually get eaten?
<Mmm, there might be trouble w/ the Alpheids and the Hawk... either might be harmed by the other in time>

Now, if you have housed both together successfully long term, than I will not question any further. Just looking out for potential livestock is all...
