    I would definitely use a protein skimmer. You still want to keep the nitrates as low as possible to limit algae growth and also allow you to keep nitrate sensitive snails. I would still use some type of mechanical filter like a hagen or penguin/emporer if you need biological filtration.

    The reason for low stocking levels in saltwater is because saltwater doesn't hold as much dissolved oxygen. So if you have too many fish you will have low oxygen levels.

    :disappoin mmmm, equipment is not a problem my frustration is to have a 29 gal tank just to have two 3" fish in there to me is a hole lot of dead space :( according to 1" per 5 gal.
    Now I'm in the side of protection and preservation of wild and culture species.
    In fresh you can have a diversity of species in same size of tank and that is what it creates the beauty of a reproduction of a mini ecosystem.becuase they are less demanding that salt.
    May be on a 75, 90 or 150 gal tanks you are able to recreate that, for the same reson I wouldn't like to compromise the health and well been of our little friends :LolLolLol
