    Alright my cousin gave me her 20 gallon tank. When I got the tank it was filled with dust and stuff. Anyways i filled it up and had no leaks:). She cant remember putting an med or copper in so I need to clean this really good. What should i use to clean this tank.? thanks

    elbow grease. lol. if theres been no meds put into it. just give it a good scrub and away you go. good luck validity.

    You can do this a couple of ways. Take a soft sponge add some baking soda and scrub with it.

    or

    You can fill it up with RO/DI water add whole bottle of vinegar and let it sit there for a week with a pump. Let all the organics dissolve.

    Dont worry too much about copper, its should be gone by now.

    I'm not sure what you mean.

    I use a razor blade to scrape my tank GLASS and then clean with saltwater.

    Carefully not to get too close to sides.


    PS. i use glass tanks btw

    You can soak it in bleach for a period of time, then rinse it out well or use vinegar as mentioned above. The filter will help as well once you get the tank set up by removing particulate matter from the tank.

    I would still test it for copper. You can by the kits at any LFS. Fill it up, let it circulate for 24 hours, then run the test. The $6 will be well worth it to know for sure.
