I read that it is good to give your fish a freshwater dip for two minutes before putting it in the QT, is this true?

Well I'm not an expert but I know a freshwater dip is very stressful for a fish. I personally wouldn't do it unless it was showing signs of external parasites. On the other hand I don't think its a bad Idea to keep your QT at Brackish levels about 1.012. Most saltwater fish able to adapt to these levels with little difficulty.

i agree about not reccomending it unless it calls for extreme measures. dont forget the ph difference between salt and fresh is quite a bit. dropping a saltwater fish in freshwater is like comparing it to an acid bath for the fish.
