Hullo! All I see in here for Chemistry is for SW tanks...

I'm needing to know what I need to get to keep my tank balanced. It's the end of my 3rd week for the cycling, my PH is really high for being freshwater...

Any home remedies (or store bought ") for lowering PH and other chemicals?

Btw, my ammonia is just fine..

    Thank you!!

whats your temp? hight temp sometimes means hi ph, also the rock and subsrate can be a factor

How high is the pH and what kind of fish are you keeping/planning to keep?

+1, different kinds of rocks will release different minerals as well. I have a play sand bottom and texas holey rock and I have never had a problem. Best of luck to you.

My temp stays at 75 F, I have just a few small half-polished rocks, and plain aquarium rocks. One piece of petrified wood, and a few pieces of drift wood...

My PH is super high! Upwards 8.5!! I'm wanting to have close to 7.0, 7.5...

I'm planning (hopefully, I have been asking around) on having fancy goldfish (mainly moors, fantails...) and different small breed plecos*. Maybe a couple large turbo snails?

*to combat the waste from the goldfish.

    Here's a pic:

have you tested your water source? you will need to have some balance between your gh and kh. there are now shells or coral, or even limestone in your tank?

Nope, no shells or coral. I do have a tester in my tank, ammonia is fine, but ph is super high.

Umm...I just bought the master testing kit that I will use once I get home. I did buy a ph balance fluid...I put the amount it said to put in, but it didn't make a difference.

it might be the substrate you have, if you want, try changing it to a aquarium gravel that should lower it,

But it IS aquarium gravel. How has carbon to do with Ph? I added more to fix the discoloration. Would the extra carbon affect it?
