LOL salt is the way to go. When your little you start with a bike easy to use and no money(GOLD FISH ) now your older with money i suppose.. so you move up to a motorized vehicle (SALT water fish) more difficult more money but more interesting.

the way i look at it if you just want a fish tank because it would look cool in the house, and you dont want to clean it alot then go freshwater, the fish a kinda emotionless, with a few exceptions like oscars.

if you really want to start a hobby and keep a pet then saltwater is the way to go. the fish have more diverse personalitys,(along with needs and care),along with more options of advancement in your setup. i could go on for hours about how much better i like sw than fw so ill just vote yes for sw.

that aint no joke, im think of holding meetings at my house, but you gotta bring a frag to get in.lol

My first was a 12 gallon nano cube dx... then now have a 5.5 gal.... I will never do a cube again though.. Only because of heat issues... I will be setting up a bigger tank once I get a new house, waiting on ours to sell now.. What a pain in the rear.... I love my little 5.5.. Homemade hood with open back and 72 watts over it....

Specific Gravity, the density of water compared to pure H20, 1.021 would mean the water is 1.021 times denser than pure H20

ok fw vs. sw. Wow I didn't know I would ever compare these two as I think fw tanks are work of the devil but that's just me. If you are somewhat experienced in FW then you can pretty easily learn the hobby of SW. My first rule is: Start right. Get the right equipment the first time and you will be on a better path than most of us when we started. Rule 2: Go Slow. Nothing pains me more than seeing someone toss a fish in a tank that isn't ready just to hop on here and ask why their fish is dyin. Rule 3: Ask Questions: That's why you registered here at 3reef. We don't charge per question (or at all) unless you wanna tip me but we'll discuss that later. Rule 4 Have fun. There's no limit to what you can do with a tank as long as it has adequate size.
