    Will this thing survive????

I figured it would be bad to introduce to another tank now ... its still in a container, he hasn't done anything with it yet ... should he??

    Thanks

He cut it off the rock? An anemone?
If so, its chances of survival are slime at best with a badly damaged foot. If it were me, I would toss it and not even chance it in a system.

I don't have pictures ... he's not here, he's at home and asked me if I want it.

It was moving around, stinging some stuff ... so he snipped it ... put it in a container and called me to see if I wanted it. But I didn't think it was worth the risk ... figured I would see what everyone else recommended.

I have little to no anemone experience ... and I'm not willing to sacrifice my system for a bubble tip

Do NOT put it in another tank.....it's most likely toast.

Put it in a separate plastic container with saltwater and water circulation and lighting and hopefully it will recover.

That's not the only problem though. The foot that was left on the rock in the original tank is going to start rotting and cause an Ammonia spike. Get some fresh saltwater mixing immediately and buy some Prime or other Ammonia-reducer from the LFS.

Can't those be removed from rock like a condy nem? Usually you can tug on their foot until they let go. I have no experience with bubbletips but my understanding is that all nems have a foot that can help it travel around your tank. Kinda like a snail, you wouldnt cut a snails foot off....you gently finesse it until it lets go, same with my condy. Wonder if he tried?

Well considering we dont' have an lfs here in town ... I know who's door he'll be knocking on shortly. Answers my question about adopting the orphan anemone.

Thanks for the heads up ... glad I check and didn't put the thing in my tank.
