I have a 36" power compact light fixture by coralife with 2 96watt lights. Just curious what yalls thoughts were about keeping frogspawn under them. Thanks

Up a little higher, no problem. I have had several different Euphyllias under PC without any problems.

PCs get a bad rap because they aren't as good as t5ho, MH, or some LED fixtures, but they really aren't that bad. I kept many euphyllias between the sand and top of my old 50G show wi th absoutely no problems. How deed is your tank?

They should be fine just keep it a little higher.

Buty the UVL-R bulbs come replacement time. They have an internal reflector that should help put more light into the tank.

Its right about 15" bc of the sand, that's to the very bottom.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Me too kept many LPS under PC, you just gotta make sure you change out the bulbs at least every 9 months if not more

Yes they do get a bad rap, and not for sps, because I tried some monti under them and they did ok but lost color and did not thrive as they would under the other lighting systems.

The good thing about PC lights is that you can find replacement bulbs at most petsmart and such. Much eaiser to find replacement bulbs for PCs IME.

Never had a problem with mine, also had some Birdsnest and pink and green Pocillopora grew like crazy. I think is all has to do with the distance from the bulb. At the time my frag tank was a 20g long which is only 12" deep and the light sat right on top. the top rack on my frag rack was only about 5" below the lights.

Here is a picture of that frag tank, all the corals on the top rack are sps.

Agreed with all of the above! I kept a branching hammer under PC lighting for 3 years before selling it off and breaking down the tank. It did well, I had it placed up pretty high in the tank.

Go for it. I had the stock Biocube lights, 2 PC bulbs, on my BC29 and kept a frogspawn about mid-level.

Well idk if y'all consider 15" deep or not, but my fixture is on legs so it doesn't sit directly on the tank. That's awesome you kept sps with pcs, but I'm sure it'll never happen in my situation. I'm probably gonna wait to get a frogspawn until I got my tunze 9002, but id like to keep it mid tank. Hopefully it'll work out.
