I currently have a tank that is almost 4 months old now. It was purchased from a gentleman that had it for over 2 years. My question is, I purchased a frogspawn 1.5 months ago. I located near the top (2/3 up from bottom) of the tank due to my poor lighting. Since then, I've purchased 6-bulb T5HO fixture. The frogspawn is extended nicely and seems happy. However, I don't see the vibrant green color that I see in others except during the actinic light only periods. Should I move it to the sand or lower in the tank?

Still new and learning. Thanks for the help in advance.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I would say yes it should be moved down, but it sounds like it is doing well. Prehaps post a picture of it to show it's placement.

    :)

I had the same problem with my frogspawn. It looks huge but with poor coloration. I moved it down to the sand bed and in a slightly shaded area and it colored back up within a week. It also shows great polyp extension after acclimating to the flow and light down there. I also have a 6-bulb fixture.

Frogspawns are a moderate light requiring coral. What size tank do you have?

I agree with the post above..Move it down, and it should be okay.

They have better polyp extension when they are in lower flow also.

Sorry for the late reply. Here is a pic to show the general location of the frogspawn.

    Thanks again.
