OK.. things are refusing to get better on their own, so I'm looking to you guys for some advice.

I bought a frogspawn frag about 2 months ago, and for the first month it did really well. Here are some pictures from when I first got it:

It looked like this for 3-4 weeks. It was happy, with full extension during the day, and closing up at night.

For the past month or so, it's looked like this:

Obviously, I'm not great at taking pictures.. so please ignore the difference in picture quality/color/brightness and contrast etc...

You'll notice that it's sitting in a different spot than it was. It first started looking like this when it was it it's original spot and I suspected the biggest culprit was flow as I'd just shifted my powerheads a little bit. Since then I've moved it into various areas around the tank with low flow and seen no improvement. I left it in each spot for at least a week to allow it time to re-acclimate before moving it.

    My tank parameters are:
    Temp: 78-81
    PH: 8.2
    Nitrate: 0
    Nitrite: 0
    Ammonia: 0
    Ca: 440
    Alk: 7dKH
    SG: 1.024

These have been consistent over the past few months as well.

Everything else in the tank is doing well.. I'm including some other pics in case you can spot danger signs on anything else, but as far as I can tell they're healthy.

I haven't seen anything too alarming from the frogspawn (no ooze or signs of it deteriorating), but I'd really like to know why it isn't opening up like it used to.

I'm hoping someone will be able to recommend something, and if you need more pictures or info let me know..

    Thanks!

I don't think so.. I don't think the Goby's gone near it since I took that pic.. and that was one of the early ones.

    my livestock is:
    Goby
    Coral beauty
    six line wrasse
    2 emerald crabs
    pistol shrimp
    various snails (turbo, cerith, nassarius..)

I'll keep an eye out though...

Oh.. and this is in a 75 gallon with 6x54W T5s, with a 20gal bare bottom sump with Octopus 150 skimmer and chaeto

Your Alkalinity is on the low side of good. I dont have a frogspawn but my hammer perked up quite alot when I bumped my alkalinity up to 10dKH from 8dKH.

Not saying that is it but it is the only thing on your list that isn't perfect.

Doesn't look too bad to me, but maybe it's getting more flow than it likes? Also that Coral Beauty definitely can be a coral nipper/pesterer, that's where I'd put my money. Raising the Alk a little bit isn't a bad idea either, especially if your test kit is a little bit off.

I didn't want to raise mine as much as I did but my kit always showed 8 or less and I didn't suspect it until I had the tank at 10. Everything looks better now so I'm keeping it there but it actually was an accident.

I guess I'll try and bump up the alk a bit. The tank's always flirted between 7-8 but I never bothered with it.

The frogspawn's been looking like this for about a month.

yea that is a bit long. I had some green star polyps that were closed for a few days but then came back but I would say you do have a problem. hope the alk trick works. but just for your info my alk on my tank was 6 dkh for a few months and never had trouble with frogspawn. hopw all works out for you.
