I have a purple tipped FS that has been splitting since I got it. I have noticed in the past few weeks it has split again. Only this time the head was not as colorful and even "deflated" a bit. Nothing else has been added to the tank (14 BC) in this time and I have maintained my water changes/maintenance as usual.

Does anyone else notice their FS look "sick" when they are splitting? Or is this just my FS?

Since it has shown the symptoms/started splitting - it has completed splitting and is looking better every day.

It has great extension and the color is coming back. But it is still not 100% to where the color/size was before it began splitting this last time.

    Any thoughts?

Frogspawns, torches and other euphyllids split constantly, not just when they're stressed. It's a branching coral; their job is grow, and splitting is an integral part of that growth.

Mine started looking bad recently, and has started a split. Only the newer half of the head seems to be looking bad, as in a bit pale, but not colorless. This may be a product of it creating more tissue than it has xooxanthellae to populate, and judging by your experience, is a normal behavior.

i never would notice a difference in the head quality, only the shaded ones looked shrimpy.

I think I'm trying to do both, as should be fairly apparent.

Comparing the facts of my situations helps because it shows that it may be a normal experience for frogspawns. It's no substitute for someone with more experience coming in, but it definitely is putting observations out into the wild where they can be discussed and compared in order to draw some sort of conclusion as to whether its normal for them to shrink and be slightly bleached during the splitting process.

Bringing facts like "branching corals constantly split as part of their life cycle" also helps explain to you that it's not splitting due to stress, but rather as a natural process that all branching corals will undergo on a regular basis.

So, in sum, I attempted to give you some information you may not have known, while potentially helping the OP, even if it's just to help ease the worry of having a FS in that situation.
