I got a nice Frogspawn about 6 weeks ago (4 heads), and over the course of the last month, it's improved color (become a darker green) and developed about 10 new baby heads. They were little miniature buds with bright green tentacles. Now for some reason, over the last 2 days, they all but 3 dissapeared. The parent heads are still doing great.

My CA stays around 500, MG around 1400, dkh 11, SG 1.024. All corals are doing very nicely, with the exception of these little baby heads dissapearing. You can see little white dots where the heads used to be.

Any ideas? I want my frog to grow.

    Thanks!

I haven't had any good luck with those baby heads on mine either. I think some of it might just be that they don't get enough light being shaded by the parent heads. Do they look like they're getting decent light?

I had two on my grape coral below the big heads..after i saw this thread i went to go look at them and they're gone..the way mine was placed though had the baby heads in the shade so i'm sure that's what it was

Strange - they were actually bright green and showed no signs of stress. There's plenty of light and they aren't really shaded by the parent heads, from the way it's placed.

Well, for whatever reason they decided not to join us in this world. I wouldn't worry about it if your colony looks good though, seems pretty common.

We have a bunch in our tank, I noticed that people cut the baby heads off and place them by themselves. I am guessing your talking about the ones that pop out of the stalk.

Yep - little green buds with tentacles just starting. Kind of sad to see them go, the colony looks great but I want the colony to become larger :cheesy:
