I had a 2 headed frogspawn. A new head branched off and the 2 original heads died off. Both original heads were down to just skeleton while the 3rd new head seems to be flourishing. Now heres the weird part. The skeleton of one of the original heads has what seems to be a small new set of frogspawn tentacles growing out of it. is it normal for this coral to regenerate new heads from the skeleton like this? I had heard that once a head dies off, the skeleton never grows a new one from that spot.

I have lots of different frogspawns, they are one of my favorites. From my experience, sometimes a few heads might close up for a period of time where you could see the skeleton, especially if they are getting too much flow, not enough light, bad water parms, etc. However they usually come back if the issues get resolved. I've never seen them come back when the skeleton gets all dried up, and change color to that bone dry look.

I think the little tiny ones are one of the ways they grow, so it is probably normal. They may or may not make it the parent is gone. Keep us up to date please.

thats whats so strange. this guy didnt close up, he died.. the skeleton was bone dry and now a new head is comin out unless the head closed up so small that it wasnt visible, but i do recall seeing most of the head melt off and i didnt see any evidence of anything left. just within the past few days has the new stuff has been popping out. my water, lighting and flow are all up to par. i did have a small cyno breakout recently but its subsiding.
