Hey guys I am planning on getting a frogspawn coral once my tank is cycled. Can these sting you? If they can, how bad does it really hurt? I am curious to know. If I dont get any answers I guess I will just touch it and see what happens... Lol

I have been stung by them and it feels like a mild electrical shock to me. If you are allergic to them then it will not be good for you. Be careful with all corals.

Personally, Ive never been stung handling my torch, hammer, or frog, but I hear that they can sting you, especially in a cut. I've also read that repetitive exposure to their stings can cause a hyper sensitivity to them and cause bad rashes and peeling skin on the arm.

I always try to wear powder free latex gloves when handling my corals, just in case(ya never know what ya may touch in the tank, zoa's especially can have some nasty palyotoxins, and a fireworm could get ya too. It's good practice to do it, I'm not as good as I should be though about wearing them;)

I have handled mine many times and never noticed a sting. I dont know if they have to intentionally sting u or just touching them would cause a sting but i have never felt anything when touching them.

The oils from your skin are actually worse for the coral than a sting would be to you. Never touch the polyps with bare skin.

For some reason mine would only burn or sting if my forearm brushed it never my hand, just a mild burning sensation, not as bad as fire coral :)

I handle mine all the time because my turbos love to push it off my rock. I only feel a weird slime but no sting or pain.
