My frogspawn use to be beautiful !

It still has some green @ the tip &, unless it is just wishful thinking, there do seem to be a few very tiny bubbles forming. This has happened since I have been adding 1/4 tsp of Liquid Reef very ofther day. ( as per instructions )
What do you think my chances are ?

Er, tiny bubbles? Like, on the tips?

And what's your other problem? Bleaching? You say it's still green at the tip, implying a change of color.

Post a picture of how it looks. I'm not familiar with Liquid Reef, so can't speak on that. I try to stay away from dosing any chemicals/additives, other than the 3 important ones ALK/CA/MG.

Do you know your water params, ie, ALK/CA/MG/PO4, that would help us troubleshoot. Also is the frogspawn in a high/med/low flow area? How is your temp & salinity also?

    Perameters, etc.

The perameters in my tank test within all the limits except calcium.

Yes, they are tiny bubbles @ the tips surrounded by, what looks like a dead grey area. Green is the natural color.

Liquid reef can be given daily or every other day. It contains carbonate, calcium, strontium, magnesium & potassium. I am now dosing every other day. I'm thinking that daily might be a better choice & I'll just keep a very close eye on conditions in the aquarium.

I keep my frogspawn in a low flow area & the temperature of the tank is 84F.

I'd like to send along a picture, but my wife is away on business for a few weeks & she had to take the camera. Sorry. I know a picture is worth a 1000 words.

I hope that answers all your questions. I sure could use your help if you have any suggestions.

Hmm 84 is on the higher end of the temp scale, I would try to keep it between 78-80. A temp that high may or may not be playing a part in the frogspawns health. A rule of thumb with dosing any additives is don't dose what you can't test. If your levels are off, it's best to be able to know as opposed to not.

Has the frogspawn ever been dropped on the sandbed or damaged in any way?

Lots of frogspawn varieties have a different color on the ends than on the rest of the tentacles. The temperature is a bit high IMO, I would lower it by at least 2 degrees.

We still need a picture, IMO. One from a camera phone would work...

Shocked ! I said my water was within perameters. I find it is close, but not right on. The salinity is perfect. Alkalinity is right off the scale !
Liquid reef contains carbonate, calcium, strontium, magnesium & potassium. It said I could dose every other night or every night. I think I'll go every night & keep a close track of things.
I have a beautiful sea anenome, a clown, crabs & button coral. All are doing well. I lost my blue mushroom & maybe my frogspawn.
I find it so discouraging. I don't have any of these problems with my fresh water tanks. One of them is a planted discus tank which are suppose to be the most difficult fish to keep. Mine are beautiful.
Maybe I should have stuck with fresh water.

In terms of dosing with the Liquid Reef, are you testing your levels to get a base reading to dose against? Are you shocked that your temp is too high, I'm confused?? What are the # readings of your ALK/CA/MG?

Discus tanks are tougher than a normal FW tank, definitely. However, FW to SW keeping doesn't exactly translate so it can be discouraging at times. Keep the faith, stuff happens. I had a frogspawn that I paid $180 fall off it's base and bruise itself. I watched it wither away & die over the next 2 days, not fun.

Can you post the numbers you got from your test? We really can't help too well without those, either.

I'm sure what I am about to say, no true salt water enthusiastist ever says. I am sorry. The last thing I want to do is insult anyone. I'm just about ready to throw in the towel. I will dose every night & what happens, happens !
Call me aa cry baby. Maybe I am. Call me a quitter. Maybe I am. I do admire & have a great respect for those of you who make it work ! I thank you for all your help. I guess it takes a special knack & I don't have it. Good fishing !
