I was at the LFS today, and they had a large gorgeous orange digitata for $40. I bought it and brought it home, but as I tried to place it in my tank, it broke into 6 pieces.I lost 2 of in the rock structure, but now instead of a large colony, I have 4 frags strewn around the SPS section of my tank. Hopefully they'll grow though and I'll have a few nice colonies down the road...

I blame my clownfish, because I have to wear aqua gloves when I put my hand in the tank because the ocellaris bite me when I don't, and the rubber fingers are not very nimble. They'll even jump out of the water to bite my hand if it's by the surface.

Thats a blessing in disguise. Now when they grow a little, you can sell the other 3 and make some $$$.;)

True. Hopefully they'll all take off.

All four pieces already have great polyp extension. I'm hoping they grow quickly. I know that I had a montipora plate that fell into the rocks, leaving only 2 tiny pieces on the rocks, and that has grown into a magnificent montipora colony.

You should see the same from these frags.

Thanks for the support. Still, it was just frustrating to see the big colony snap into a bunch of little ones. Reef keeping is, however, all about patience.

I had this MASSIVE monti colony. about 18" across and 10" tall with countless folds and leafs. I sold it for $200 and the guy who bought it broke it in half when he put it in his tank.

also had a Frogspawn with about 50 heads. it somehow got dislodged and fell against the glass. I ended up with a good dozen frags of 2-5 heads each. sold them for $10 a head and still had plenty leftover. sold it for about $150 when I broke my tank down.
