I have a 10 gallon i am making into a sump. I have a return chamber, a skimmer chamber and then an emprty chamber in which i am goin to put a filter sock. I was wondering since the 10 gallon tank is 12" high and the sock is only 4" long could i put a small fuge in the chamber? The sock would not be resting in the sand. The only problem i see with this set up is the amount of flow comming right into the fuge.

heres a crapy paint picture to explain it all better. (sorry its so small)

If the flow will be to high for a fuge could i atleast just have some cheato sitting in there?

Can you run the drain line in the same chamber as the skimmer and utilize that whole other chamber for a fuge?

wow you know i was thinking about this all morning and i never thought to have the drain come into the skimmer chamber. I think i can make it fit.

    Thanks Jim!

I basically have the same setup as your as far as sumps go and I have the skimmer in the drain section, my first section (where your fuge is in the pic.). I then have the fuge in the middle and then return. I like this setup as the water flows through the fuge. Now, you may not be able to fit your skimmer with your drain, in that case what Jim said would be ok too.

Better idea, definitly agree with GuitarMan. If you can put the skimmer on the end with the drain line and have the fuge in the middle section so the water flows through it, this would be more ideal IMO.

I think i can make it fit, i have the return chamber baffle already in place but the other baffle is not in place so i can make the skimmer and drain fit in one chamber on the left and what ever space is left over in the middle i'll make the fuge.

    Thanks again
