Seahorses are so cute but kind of freak me out!!

Yeah I get what you are saying about bare bottom. Hmmm....I love the look of sand, but I get that it's much easier to keep clean when it's bare...I'll think about it.

Kacy, you dont see the kitty litter if you make a mound of it in the center and surround it with pretty sparkly beautiful sand. Plus, its a fuge, they get gross I promise..

I did it for you.. Just get the cheap plain clay kittle littler with no other products in it. It says Natural Clay Kitty litter. I really feel it helped with the stability of my past system.

'bout the litter... I used walmart's brand "Special kitty" which contains no additives, perfumes or any other chemicals that you probably do not want in your fuge. I have a deep sand bed, my sand and kitty litter all mixed together (my fault though) and still no problems. To top it off, I added about 8 pounds of live rock rubble and I can tell you, KC, my fuge has tons of pods (dragonets!!) among other creatures that like it down there...

Oh, I also put my peppermints in there... they were stealing the food from my corals.. so they're enjoying some permanent time off :p
By the way, get some red mangroves from John. I've had my nitrates consistently at zero since I added the chaeto/mangrove combo.

Yay!!! Now you're almost all set!!

Great job Kacy! I was also very nervous when drilling. I drilled 3 holes the first time drilling glass. Hurry and finish it up so we can see it up and running. They do get pretty swampy though, and fast. If it is a display fuge, you'll have to be ok with a dirty box of water. :)

Thanks for the info!! I've heard arguments for and against rock in the fuge, so I'm going to do some more reading about it. Your personal experience is very helpful!

I don't want dirty water!!
