What rate of flow should I be running through my fuge tank? I have a 125gal DT with a mag 9.5 return pumping up 6' to the DT. My fuge tank is a reefmaster-200 the fuge is about a 10gal portion of that. Would it be best to put a valve on the return pump, or some where else?TIA

rule of thumb is 1/10th of your volume flowing through your fuge...

so 1/10th of 125 is 12.5...you should have 12.5GPH flowing through your fuge.

    I second that notion.

So if that's the case is my return pump way to much overkill? Could I even restrict the flow on the pump that much? Any suggestions. TIA

The fuge should get it's feed from the display tank so all the nutrients so straight to it. Just T off the OF tube and feed it with gravity not a pump.

Depends on the type of macros you are keeping in the fuge. Some like faster flow than others.

so if you're doing what John mentioned, incorporating macros that require more flow...you can adjust the flow easier by having the fuge fed off the OF and have a ball valve on that line

The fuge is feed directly from OF, but thats the only feed. Are you guys saying add a T after the OF and feed fuge and adjust flow to about 15GPH and the other feed go to the sump part. I have cheato and caulerpa in the fuge with fuge mud and 1" of LS on top of that. Does this sound right? TIA
here is the fuge/sump I'm using

So in my research I've read that cheato needs more flow. So how much???

Also, what kind of flow is best??? Meaning overflowing on the top, directed with baffles to the bottom, turbulent???
