    Alright, I'm about to partition this 30g tank I bought into sections for my sump/fuge... obviously the pump is at one end w/ a bubble trap before it... However, should I put the skimmer section in the middle or at the beginning of the layout.

    layout:
    fuge? -> skimmer? -> pump

    Here is my fuge..its a 30g long...i dont have a skimmer in it because i have a HOB right now but I have a chamber for a skimmer first (but it just holds a filter sock), then the fuge (angled because the pre-cut picture frame replacement glass at home depot that is SUPER CHEAP, was a hair too long, BUT I LOVE THAT IT WAS for more fuge room) then the return pump chamber...my fuge works like a gem and i have a MASSIVE pod population in my tank now! I'm getting a mandarin soon :)

    Nice idea! I might do that also.

    I've heard about pods... do you have to supplement them at first? or do they just hitchhike their way in?

    Thanks, and btw SICK reef. I hope mine looks like that eventually! K+

    Thanks...i've put a lot of hard work into it...but now i get the payoff of watching it mostly...besides adding vitamins and doing water changes :)

    My fuge cost me a whopping $30 to make...tank included :)

    Kevin, i'm diggin the catty corner baffles, have you had any issues with those?
    how does that setup handle evaporation that usually shows itself in the return area?

    It insulates the bottom of the tank from a cold floor that may cause large temp swings in the winter especially.
