Ok, so I'm about to purchase our "final" fish for the 20g tank (live rock, about an inch of live sand bed, small soft corals, 2 clown fish tank raised, 2 emerald crabs, snails and hermies). I like the sticky list of fish ideas and am looking for more personalized suggestions. The clown fish I have are just no fun. I don't know if they are still small, if it's because they are tank raised or plain not happy, but we've had them for over a month and all they do is stay in the back corners (separate corners!) of the tank and only come out to eat 3 times a day. Forget about them hosting an anemone, they wouldn't even know it's there, I don't think they ever came out to the front of the tank to see the reef and corals. Did anyone have that happen and is there a chance they live it up a little?
Back to the original subject though, what would you recommend for the 3rd and most likely the last fish that would be a good and fun companion to the rest of the group, considering the size limit? My reef partner (6yrs old) loves the blue spotted goby, but from what I've been reading they need at least 40g of water and 3in of sand. Any other ones like that?
    Thanks!

I don't think a jawfish would work since they only have 1 in of sand. Mind is in 4" and he dug all the way to the bottom of the tank.

What about a royal gramma? a nice colorful fish
or look here for all the nano fish which stay smaller Nano Fish

I would have to go with firefish as well. Both of mine that I have kept were very smart and absolutely gorgeous fish. A bit shy at first but now even when Im working in the tank she stays out by hands. lol

A little more gravel could be added to accommodate a small jawfish. I'd be more concerned about a more docile fish with two clowns in a small tank. Over time they could become very aggressive. I can't count how many threads I've seen where clownfish have killed firefish. It's not an easy choice with a small tank.

Six lines probably wouldn't be a great choice as they need lots of room to swim and can be jerks from what I hear. I considered putting one in my 20L but just don't think it would be the right thing to do...
