funky maroon clown?

I picked up a 3" maroon clown today, and she has some odd coloration. At first glimpse she looks like a normal white stripe maroon clown, but the stripe closest to his head is gold in the middle. If I took a pic and cropped it in half, the front would look just like a GSM clown, and the rear looks like a white stripe.

Is this normal for maroon clowns? will she (I assume) get more yellow / gold in her rear stripes as she grows, or will it stay that way?

Just added it to my tank, so the only lights that will be on today are the actinics. I can try to get a decent one up tomorrow. She looks exactly as I described, gold stripe in the front, and 2 white stripes behind.

Mine is similar. Gold dusting on front stripe, white rear stripe.

 

I heard some maroons are born with white stripes that later develop into gold stripes. Great fish btw.

your in luck. did u get the fish as a maroon clown? theres a breed of clownfish called golden striped maroon clownfish that are a little more $$$ then the maroons. heres a vid

My maroon clown looks almost identical to the smaller, more redder one in the above video. The difference is the front stripe is gold in the middle bordered by white on either side, and the rear 2 stripes are pure white. I cant get a pic of it on my dumpy camera phone, but after I get back from jamaica next weekend i'll try to get a decent shot with a nice camera.

My LFS ordered me a blue throat trigger and a maroon clown from one of their wholesalers, and this is what I got. They had some great prices for me as well, $20 for the 3" maroon clown, and $40 for the 3-4" BT trigger. I had a bunch of store credit from xenia and kenya tree frags so this whole ordeal was very little out of pocket . . . which is never a bad thing.

well the gold strips will come up in time it starts head first then goes down. mine's like that too.
