Sorry to hear about the lay off. Wish you well on your search for a new job. The tank is looking great, will you be painting the background on?

I'm getting ready to give it a water test and paint the back black before it heads upstairs . I didn't buy the tank new so I better check it in the basement and if the Oak dosent hold better to crash in the basement LOL . I made a stand for my 110 so I think the 1" Oak will be ok for this  .

I have a 90 and started out with 175w MH and my ballast crapped out after 10 years of service. I went to 250w MH... which was a bit much for my soft corals.... I can only speak from my experience. but I would stick to 175W and use fans I had two one blowing across lengthwise of the MHs and one drawing the hot air out.. seemed to work well for me

No job yet so what the heck

I have all kind of time on my hands now since I don't have to go to work . I already bought most of the stuff so decidede I might as well work on it . Yesterday me and the kid spent about 4 hours draining the 55 down to about 5" of water . We put most of the water and rock in buckets and then picked the rest up and moved it to the computer room ..What a job and my tank is not happy now LOL .
I spent the day working on the stand for the sump . I bought a 100G rubbermaid stock tank thats going in the basement . I thought it was going to be easy to get the pluming down to the basement I'm a maintenance guy . Wrong where my tank is there was a fireplace and the previous owner had it removed but left the concret in the floor . I had to get through 6" of concret with out a hammer drill and make a hole big enough for the 3/4 supply and 1" return . I had a cheep 3/8 mason bit so I drilled my but off and then finished with a BFH and chisel . The tanks in place and the floor has a hole in it . I will probably get the sump in place and the puming done tommorow . if i feel ambitious . Here is the tank in place .

Thanks Tormentor and all others that have taken a peek at my project . I have had a few interviews so things might be looking up even though the econmy sucks ! I have had all kinds of time to work on the tank ( I think I'm glad im laid off LOL ) Water is in and I'm ajusting the salinity now . We hope to start moving things from the 55 tomorrow . I did run into a big problem in the basement the temp down there is around 60 it is taking 3 300 watt heaters to keep up at night WOW I insulated the tank and some of the piping and now it seems to be holding steady the 5 to 20 degree weather we have been having isn't helping . Here is a pic before the critters are moved in .

    Life in the 90

Wow what a pain moving everything it tooks us about six hours after we got the temps in both the old and new tanks the same we started doing water changes between the 55 to the 90 . We would take out about 20G from the 55 and add it to the 90 with the 100G sump about half full no problem with overflow and then take water from the 90 and add it back to the 55 after a few doing this a few times I figured the water in the two should be about the same so I didn't have to aclimate all critters . here is a pic I just took with just the super acitincs on the rest of the light wont be on for a hour . All parameters seem to be just fine and I don't think we have lost anything yet .:)

Some pics of the tank with the lights on . I decided I better not spend any more money untill I found another job so I'm now running 4 T5's and 2 T-12VHO's . 3 actinic white and 3 super actinic . Any one have any good idead what would look good growing on the twin towers on the right side of the tank ? I made that out of a piece of florida base rock and a buch of pieces of figi rubble with a PVC rod in the middle .

GSP would look sweet growing up at least one tower and maybe Zoa's up the other?
