So I bought a small rock with 5-6 small mushrooms on it.

I got in the car and examined it the whole way home (while hubby drove of course) and found a few cool keepers. I got 4 stomatella, a very active vermetid snail (I think,.....the one that builds a tube and sticks out the two long feelers searching for food) and an asterina star. I would like to keep them all so I'll be carefully removing them and placing them in the tank.

My question is that if I already have this many hitchhikers on a small (read about the size of a 50 cent piece) of rock should I FW dip to make sure there are no bad guys?

    How long?
    Best procedure?
If I find more "keepers" falling off, will it be ok to throw them right in the DT?
Will the FW dip kill the attached vermetid?
    Can you even dip mushrooms???

Sorry for the long read and thanks in advance!!!!

    Edit:

I also see some super tiny black specs moving very quickly.

Well, I didn't FW dip the coral. I did go over it with a magnifying glass and tweezers. Didn't find much of anything though.

Another small stomatella and second asterina star. Both went right into the tank :D

After looking over the shrooms I found a good place with medium flow and placed it. I forgot to pick up glue so it's resting with the faith that my fish won't knock it over until I get home tomorrow (tucked into a crevace all the same for added protection)

Anywhooooo, hit the actinics and boy do they GLOW!! I'm very happy! I'll have pics up as soon as I can....probably tomorrow :D

So one of the mushrooms jumped ship last night or got blown off the rock. It's laying on the sand right now. I'm sure it will reattach itself soon :D

You need to be very careful when FW dipping. The mistake that most ppl commit is that they leave the coral in FW for too long. 10-15 seconds max.

yeah, I didn't dip the coral itself. What I did was went over the rock with a magnifying glass and tweezers and then just wiggled the rock that wasn't covered with mushrooms in some fresh water for a few seconds :D
