I saw one at my LFS this weekend. I thought it was so cool, but then I noticed it had about five inch feelers out (lots of them!) trying to kill the barrier they had between it and the other corals....:-/

Seems like a mean s.o.b of a coral to me. It's a shame that so many beautiful corals are so aggressive.

While yes they can be coral killers it all depends on how you place them. If you are smart about it and account for their very long sweeper tentacles they can be kept without and issues at all. Pack them in tight with other corals and yeah, you will have issues.

I would skip the coral altogether. As it grows, the potential for it to reach your other corals with its sweepers will increase. It's a beautiful coral but not worth the risk IMO.

FWIW, a lot of LPS corals have stinging sweeper tentacles that they extend at night to protect their area and need ample room to allow for that.

I have a softball sized one tucked in the a corner of the tank. No issues because of how I have it placed. Very cool coral

Galexea's get a bad rap, LOL!...like most LPS they have the ability to sting their neighbors so placement and what they are close to does need to be thought out...and they do posses the ability to reach a bit further than most with their sweepers...maybe not an ideal specimen for smaller tanks...in systems that can afford them some space I think they make a beautiful piece and are quite hardy beyond being a little tough to ship. One of the most stunning pieces I've seen in the wild too...they grow into massive colonies that can be 10 or 15 feet across.
