    I honesty like that all tanks of a certain size are the same outer dimensions though. Making a 55 with thinner, stronger glass or using acrylic etc would make the outer dimensions different and getting hoods and stands for them could be quite frustrating.

    Yeah, the OD is usually the same within a reasonable tolerance.
