What is everyone's opinion of GARF Grunge to get Coraline Algae growing and the Janitor deals they offer?? Is this place legit? The site seems "unprofessional" but I have also seen them cross referenced elsewhere.

The garf grunge is awesome, especially when using it to get the bio load built up in your system. I love their grunge and will be buying more of it when I start my 125g. I used it in my small nano tank as well and I have good purple coraline growth in that tank, have to scrap it off my glass sides sometimes.

I wouldn't be too worried about getting coralline growing personally, the stuff is a nightmare once you have to worry about it on glass. :)

Garf is definitely a well-known, reputable site though, regardless of presentation.

So with the Grunge, just add it to my DT or refugium or both?? Looks like you just added to your fuge. Also, can you or should you mix it with your existing sand??

My 120 gal system has just been started using LR from another system a year old...all my sand was new, so I chose to add the grunge only to the Sump and Refugium. For my first system, I added the grunge only to the display tank as the sump/refugium (single tank) was a bare bottom system with some small pieces of live rock.

If you are adding any live sand product to an existing system, try and not add more than an inch of cover over your existing sand, and even then, you could expect some cycling of the tank to occur.

I ordered some grunge, grunge plus and CUC today. Curious to see it when it arrives.

One question on clean up crews? So they eat all the algae in the tank. Do you have to feed the crabs down the road?? How do you get the balance of clean, food to keep them alive and number of CUC???
