I just recently started soaking mysis feedings with garlic drops (Kent Garlic Xtreme). The directions say to add two drops for every one teaspoon of food.

Besides the mysis feedings can I also soak flakes, pellets and marine algae strips as well?

Should I be using garlic at every feeding or every other feeding?

I never saw where Garlic did anything at all except make the skimmers work a little.. If you want to do them the tank and its inhabits any good at all just get some simple old Cod liver oil all the amino and omega 3 and fatty acids .. And simple old vitamin C also along with the liver oils if you are fighting a disease problem but then you would need to use a antibiotic . Feeding Cod liver oil several times a week will help ward off the problems .

I just started using the Formula 1 & 2 flake food for it is just easier to feed and the Formula 2 has added Garlic. There must be a reason for it since Ocean Nutrition would not just add it to say "hey look we have garlic in our food".

Garlic really isn't that important unless your fish aren't eating then it is used to entice your fish to eat basically IMO.

Doesn't garlic help build a stronger immune system in the fish?

Not so much as vitamin c would be. Think about it for humans!

Garlic was used during World War I to treat intestinal infections in soldiers. It is also a clinically proven treatment for intestinal parasites, and some types of infections. This information is for humans, so it must have some benifits for our fish.

Ya Garlic is not a Vitamin but is used to stimulate appetite. Traditionally I have used it when I introduce a new fish and it may not know the food I'm using. or if I try a new food.

    Ok ... fair enough.

BUT......if garlic is used only to stimulate appetite then why do humans take garlic supplements as part of their dietary routine.

    Isn't garlic considered "nature's anti-biotic" ?

So there must be more to garlic than to stimulate one's appetite, it must have some medicinal qualities as well.
