I bought a phos reactor to help with a chance of a small cycle happening and was wondering can I mix carbon with phos media? I was also thinking of teeing off one of the 2" return pipes and putting a carbon media bag on it would that work? I just worry the tank I am picking up has a large leather coral and a mid size one as well and want to make sure I keep the tank free of toxins. the sump that comes with it is a 55g with no deviders in it just a 1/2 square grate with live rock on one side and a really large protien skimmer on the other.

    stocking tank

Well it was a long night the tank got to cloudy to do any landscaping I also ran out of fresh water to make salt water in the proccess of making more now that I have a RO unit that came with the tank. The fishy's and coral got to stay the night in a 50 gallon tote with heat and a powerhead to keep water movement.

Can anyone tell me if it will hurt any of the coral to start adding them into to the tank when its cloudy there only mushrooms, misc. button polyps, yellow star polyps, leather and a nice size hammerhead. I can wait on the hammer and leather but some of the live rock I want to use as my base has mushrooms and misc. button polyps on it. I have the tank and the tote at the same temp. not to shock anything when its added to the main tank.

Thanks for the response would you still wait even on the rock with the mushroom corals on it these rock pieces are large and I want to use them at the base of my arch I am attempting to build.

Lucky the tank I picked up he just replaced the three 250w MH bulbs but the 96W compact needs to be replaced what should I go with Actinic white or super actinic I need to get 4 bulbs.

250W S.P.S. 20000k Whatever that is. Like I said he just bought them a couple of weeks ago and I did not ask him what they are (heat of the moment with the tear down and 2hr drive home just wanted to get out of there)

    Nice set up.

You're going to paint/cover the back of the tank, right?

I found my LPS blue candy canes, over 30 heads, was not opening it's tentacles at night when I had my LED moon lights on, they were on some PC;s. Mute point for me now as I now have 100%LED's for lighting, and no moon lights at night..

The LPS l have like it very dark to open and fully feed on the water column.

    Just MHE
