Check out this video that the BBC did about the pistol shrimp. Really good information! I had a friend that had one in his 55 gallon tank, the thing cracked the glass with it's claw!

yep, i have heard stories of them cracking glass. luckily i dont think thats something that occurs regularly.

True. I was scared he cracked the glass at first! Lol his claws are so sharp he is clawing at by rock and trying to make another cave!

 

Ok...who wants to teach me on the ways of a sump? I dont know any of the vocab or terms, so keep that in mind please! I havent ever researched the process, so ill have to be slowly explained haha

 

its basically a tank below yours that has water flowing down and water going up. the overflow which normally runs on gravity brings it down. a pump brings it up. the basic sump has three sections, but you can make as many as you want. heres a pic of the sump i made out of a 10 gallon which had 4 baffles. the left side was the return and the right top square let the water in. it worked well but i should have added more holes to the baffles.
