A flasher wrasse is going to be your best bet for a reef safe peaceful wrasse. They're active, small, colorful and peaceful with tons of personality. Get a McCoskers flasher wrasse!

    Cool man;)

Ok. Were having trouble with our 40 fw and are thinking of transfering the 30 gallon reef stuff into the 40! Think we could do this easily? I have a few questions

The light fixture is for a 30" tank but the 40 is a 36". So if we suspended it would that light the whole tank? What if we got legs that stretched out farther? COULD this work?

How would we transfer everything? Would we need to get new sand for the 40?

what are your guys' inputs?? Should we do it? The fw plants are all crappy, fish have gotten ich, internal parasites and its no fun. They are all healed up now, but still. The tank is okay now, but the plants are annoying me. I'd rather convert and just have 1 nice tank in the living room. Inputs!!:)

Do it! Yeah, I'd you hang it coral placement will be limited but doable. No corals around the edges.

id be really worried about the minicycle youd have and the work you would have to do to make it happen. you could definitely do it, but it would take a lot of planning and i really wouldnt add any more fish or coral until your sure your going to do it. just know that it will be a lot to do, and you might have some things die off. i would be particularly worried about the pistol shrimp, it would be quite a pain to get him out of there. but hey, for an extra 10 gallons, its kinda worth it. if you check out AA, mr x is currently doing what you guys would be, but on a much larger scale. i think it was like 175 to 250 or something. Just make sure you plan, plan, plan.

Yeah, itd be alot of work. Honestly, If you want to upgrade just sell the 40gb, save save save and then get a 75g off Craigslist. You could get a nice 48" t5 from fishneedit and just use your current 29 as a sump.

Its not that i want to go huge, its that i dont want the 40 to be fw anymore and i'd rather not get rid of it. Just transfer the stuff and use the 29 as a sump below.
Plus, my mom would never allow somthing bigger;)

Why would it be so much work? Am i missing somthing? Take everything out and just switch it over one night right?

If i got rid of the 40 now and took its filter, ans ran it on the sw tank allowing it to be established after a month, wouldnt that help with the mini cycle?!

Also, if i didnt use the same sand, wouldnt that prevent it too?

But the side would really only be 3" on each side. Problem is, the tank is lile 2-3" deeper and alot wider. Wouldnt that affect light?

You would need to transfer fish, water, sand, coral, rock and filter.
